Balsa Wood Bridge

Our first project dealt with forces and the ability to balance the forces acting on an object.  Students had to construct bridges that would not only hold a great deal of weight, but were also as light as possible.  The group with the greatest strength ration won.  Jade and Kyle's bridge held over 40 lbs!

Projectile Launcher

Our second project dealt with projectile motion and the effects of air resistance and gravity.  Students had to construct a luancher of their choosing that would not only luanch a golf ball the furthest, but was also capable of landing closest to a 40 ft. target.  We had an added element of competion as we were competing with Mr. Johnson's Shop class to see who could build the best launchers.    Tyler, Virk, and Von's ballista shot the golf ball the furthest, while Allison and Drew's catapult was most accurate.

Rube Goldberg

We our currently working on our machine for the 2016 Rube Goldberg Machine Contest.  The machine must be able to apply a Band-Aid using the most complex steps we can imagine!  The competition is March 10th, 2017 in Champaign, Illinois.

Coming April 2016...
